=== About the Board ===

The Tamil Nadu State Board not only offers a wide spectrum of courses of study up to the
pre-degree level for all categories of learners, but also works as a nodal institute for
carrying forward the regular and open school movement in the country in order to achieve the
objective of developing an inclusive learning society.

With approximately '''one million students''' on its rolls, the Tamil Nadu State Board is
recognised as one of the largest school boards in the world, with significant reach across
Commonwealth nations and several developing and developed countries.

The Board is governed and administered by two primary bodies:

*'''Tamil Nadu Board of Secondary Education (TNBSE)''' – Chennai (Handles Classes 1–10)
*'''Tamil Nadu Board of Higher Secondary Education (TNBHSE)''' – Chennai (Handles Classes 11–12)

The '''Directorate of Government Examinations, Tamil Nadu (TNDGE)''' conducts and oversees
all public examinations at the Secondary and Higher Secondary levels.

The '''State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT)''' serves as the chief
agency responsible for developing curriculum, conducting syllabus revisions, implementing
the Right to Education (RTE) Act, and supporting teacher education and training
across the state.

'''Samacheer Kalvi''' (meaning "Equitable Education" in Tamil) is the '''uniform curriculum
and textbook system''' adopted by the Tamil Nadu State Board. It was introduced to ensure
that students across government, government-aided, and private schools study the same
content from a single standardised set of textbooks, regardless of the medium of instruction
or type of school.

==== Key Features of Samacheer Kalvi ====

=== Tips for Success in TN State Board Examinations ===

*Thoroughly study all chapters in the Samacheer Kalvi textbooks, as board questions are
primarily textbook-based
*Practise previous year question papers (2015–2025) and model question papers released
by DGE Tamil Nadu
*Pay special attention to '''Five Mark and Eight Mark''' questions — they carry the
highest weightage in board examinations
*Maintain a consistent schedule for quarterly, half-yearly, and revision examinations
as internal marks contribute significantly to final results
*For Science stream students targeting NEET or JEE, supplement TN State Board study
with focused coaching on application-based and MCQ-type questions
*Focus on Tamil language sections in Part I — many students lose marks due to
overlooking language papers
*Participate in NMMS and NTSE scholarship examinations from Class 8 and 10 for
financial support and national recognition
